One of the most poetic books I’ve ever read. This class Rebellion Against Romanticism was such a labor for me.

The nameless narrator is in love with all three. Gerafd is a central obfuscation of the nouvelle’s narration – dream, delusion, or reality? The narrator again goes to Paris and in due course returns to Sylvie and spends a day socializing at a village elderly household. The narrator’s relationship with her is complicated by the role of Adrienne, though sylvue is not clear whether she is real or a figment of the narrator’s imagination.

The remembrance of things as they were, or the appearance of things then as they appear now? There is a tangible sense of regret, not for sylvis her, but for returning to her. Sylvie was all about the difference between this innocent naive country girl and this actress, both of whom totally capture the narrator’s heart.

Guillaume Apollinaire relates in La Vie Anecdotique that while writing SylvieNerval spent a week in Chantilly solely to study a sunset that he needed for it.
